  • Ticket #65023 (Don't use (no title) in place of text from body of post in Posts list) created April 3, 2026 7:15 pm
In the Posts list, if an item doesn't have a title, (no title) in place of the title isn't helpful, and makes it difficult when a page has lots of singular posts. Suggested solution: Grab the first N chars of the body, or first sentence (easy with regex) or add a tool tip with the same text. I write a lot of "singular" posts, ie posts without titles. Happy to share JS code that works.

  • Ticket #65022 (Posts list: replace (no title) filler when a title isn't set with ...) created April 3, 2026 5:59 pm
Pulled from here after @matt shared it as an area to improve: http://scripting.com/2026/04/03.html#a140913 While we could show first N characters of a post when title is empty, there are also other ideas to consider to both still reflect a post title is missing but to make it easier for the person skimming to know what the post is likely about. Speaking personally, I like to see (no title) or some indication a title is missing so I can fill in. Let's discuss ideas and implement a solution based on the discussion.

  • Ticket #65021 (Fatal error in _wp_get_iframed_editor_assets(): ...) created April 3, 2026 2:15 pm
When opening the Customizer, a fatal error occurs: Fatal error: call_user_func_array(): Argument #1 ($callback) must be a valid callback, function "wp_print_media_templates" not found The function _wp_get_iframed_editor_assets() in block-editor.php creates an isolated script context and calls wp_print_footer_scripts(), which fires the print_media_templates action. However, media-template.php is not loaded in this isolated context, so wp_print_media_templates() is undefined. Fix: Add a require_once for media-template.php before wp_print_footer_scripts() inside _wp_get_iframed_editor_assets(). Here is my temporary fix for the function: <?php function _wp_get_iframed_editor_assets() { global $wp_styles, $wp_scripts; // Keep track of the styles and scripts instance to restore later. $current_wp_styles = $wp_styles; $current_wp_scripts = $wp_scripts; // Create new instances to collect the assets. $wp_styles = new WP_Styles(); $wp_scripts = new WP_Scripts(); /* * Register all currently registered styles and scripts. • Ticket #65020 (Connectors: Support custom plugin is_active callback in connector ...) created April 3, 2026 1:58 pm
This changeset backports connector improvements from Gutenberg to Core: Extend connector plugin metadata to support optional plugin.is_active callback. Validate plugin.is_active as callable during WP_Connector_Registry::register(). Use plugin.is_active callback when building connector script-module data, with fallback to file_exists + is_plugin_active. Update default Akismet connector to use a robust activity check: defined( AKISMET_VERSION ) && class_exists( Akismet, false ). Some plugins (especially MU-loaded or non-standard load paths) cannot be reliably detected via is_plugin_active(file) alone. Allowing an explicit activity callback provides accurate activation state in connectors UI.

WebLog Tools Collection

  • I am taking my leave of Weblog Tools Collection, and thanks for everything! March 31, 2013 1:41 pm
Not many of the present readers might know me very well, and that in part, is the reason that I have made the decision to transfer WLTC to more willing and presently capable hands. I am a stranger on my blog and the time has come for me to make sure that this blog, its contents and its knowledge are archived and preserved and maybe rejuvenated at a later time. I delved into blogging tools back in 2004 when I started my Masters degree in CS. I wanted some code to mess around with in my free time and everyone was talking about blogging. I looked into a variety of tools, built a small Linux server for myself at home, and installed a few of the tools that were freely available at that time. I had a heck of a time getting a hold of MT (Moveable Type, the most well-known name) and […]

  • Where to Find WordPress News March 31, 2013 12:05 am
The landscape of news has changed so much over the last few years that news about a particular topic or platform is readily available to anyone within an instant. With WordPress, I imagine that could be one of the perks of powering over 16% of the web, but it’s true that news is becoming incredibly accessible. In short, news is everywhere. Speaking of WordPress in general, you can of course acquire official direct news from WordPress News, but you can also take a peak behind the curtain and follow news in the making at Make WordPress.org. Though it’s only specific to the WordPress.com blogging platform, WordPress.com News is also worth watching for WordPress development news, as WordPress.com users often get access to new WordPress features before they’re released, so you’ll be able to try new features rather than just read about them. There’s more news than just direct official news, like I […]

The impending release of WordPress 3.6 has been pushed back one more week to April 29. • Do You Work From Home? March 12, 2013 2:00 pm
There has been a lot of talk lately about working from home and maintaining a distributed workforce. Web-based software, like WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal, are taking over the publishing industry and allow you to work from anywhere with an internet connection. Though, even though they can be managed  from home, working from home and maintaining a distributed workforce is not yet broadly acknowledged in society as a successful and efficient alternative to working in an office. Despite working with software that doesn’t need to be tied to one specific workstation, you could still find yourself tied to a desk in cubicle. I work full-time for Automattic and have the pleasure of both working from home and setting my own hours. After all, I only need a browser, an email client, and IRC client, and Skype to do my job. A desk is nice, but there’s no one saying that said desk has to be […]

  • Goodbye Plugins March 31, 2026 1:40 pm
Build Reliable Features for WordPress and WooCommerce Yourself with AI For many WordPress projects, the rule of thumb had long been: there’s a plugin for every feature. With AI-powered development, this approach began to shift. More and more features could be implemented directly and in a controlled manner—without unnecessary dependencies and with better maintainability. The keynote explores how AI tools were concretely transforming development for WordPress and WooCommerce. It examines which workflows were already working reliably, where clear limitations exist, and which technical details need to be considered to use AI effectively and safely in the WordPress context. The focus is on realistic use cases rather than tool hype. The meetup is aimed at developers of all skill levels as well as interested users who want to understand how AI was changing WordPress and WooCommerce development. This meetup was a joint, fully online event organized by the Zurich WordPress and WooCommerce Meetups. It was held in German.

Presentation Slides »

  • Facturo, pero… ¿me va bien?
Presentation Slides »
